The State of the Democratic Party

Why are Democrats so liberal now? What happened to Democrats of old like Scoop Jackson, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, W.A. Harriman, Truman, FDR, an the list goes on. Now you have the likes of Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid more and more. The only ones i can think of who are not this way are Joe Lieberman, Bill Richardson, and a few others.

This is so disturbing, due to to the fact that the Democratic nomination in the next election cycle will probably go to Sen. Hillary Cliniton, a wolf in sheep's clothing if there ever was one. Through recent actions she has portrayed herself as a moderate if not a hawk in order to get her nomination, but what will most likely hapen is as soon as she gets the nomination she'll revert to her far-left ways.

DNC, why not give the nominantion to someone like Gov. Bill Richardson, whose service is just as noteworthy and something tto be proud of if not more so.

I have wondered myself at how the Democratic Party (i.e. its underlying liberal base) changed so rapidly in the early 70s. One thing I put it down to is our two-party system: the radicalized youth movement, Blacks, etc. really should have split with the old-timey tradeunionists and big city machines, but couldn't. So they took over the party. By the way, you should look at http://liberty-resource-center.blogspot.com -- you might want to get involved in our project, and we would like to have you.
