President George W. Bush Time's Person of the Year
Time Magazine has just named President George W. Bush as their Person of the Year. I think he deserves this honor for a number of reasons, which I will go into here.
First of all the President has succeeded in winning reelection against Senator John Kerry who ran a tough campaign. Through surrogates he relentlessly attacked the president's policies and even indulging in personal attacks. For the president to be able to reach out to the American people is but one reason I, personally feel he should be the Person of the Year.
Another reason is, and this reason is one liberals will argue about, is through the invasion of Iraq last spring, he has given the people of that once oppressed country a chance at freedom and democracy. In January the people will get to hold elections for the possibly the first time in modern history. This would not have happened if not the courage of George W. Bush. Now Iraq will get a chance to be free and not under the oppressive yoke of Saddam Hussein, and more so free people are less likely to act out in violent ways.
President George W. Bush, love him or hate him, has stood up for what he believes in and his foreign policy has and will have an everlasting affect on not only our country but the world, and in my honest opinion it will be for the better.
