Condoleeza Rice

Condoleeza Rice ha been selected to be the new Secretary of State and I think it is as good a choice as any. She's intelligent, politically knowledgeable, and has a good grasp of the international arena. Some people in the elite media are doing the most horrendous things to tear her down though. Case in point, some political cartoons have been done recently that not only portray her in a negative light, but in a blatantly racist manner. It is disgusting the way in which the elite e media is treating her like an uneducated fool. These cartoonists should be held accountable for their actions and apologize. That's what should happen, but it won't unfortunately.

A New Hope for Palestine

With the recent passing of Yasser Arafat, Palestine has a hope for a brighter future. Having been a constant obstacle to peace, Arafat's passing will bring the opportunity for the Palestinians to elect a new leader, hopefully a moderate one open to negotiating peace at last with the Israelis. This would be a momentous step in stabilizing the Middle East. Hopefully this will happen, but unfortunately nothing is for certain.

Success in Fallujah

Fallujah is now secured after only six days of fighting, although the US and Iraqi forces still need to do some clean up operations which will logically take a few more days. This was a success in the fact that we only lost 38 US and Iraqi troops as opposed to the 1,200 insurgents who were killed. Also, only 275 troops were wounded with more than 60 returning to duty. Even though Abu Musab al-Zarqawi got away the operation, Phantom Fury, did what it intended to, rout the insurgent presence there.

French Hypocrisy

The French have shown how hypocritical they really are. They are so, due to the fact that they have gone into the African nation, Ivory Coast to aide the Muslim rebels against the Christian government of Laurent Gbagbo, without UN approval. They have not only been supporting the rebels, but also have grounded the air force of Ivory Coast.

Even though they did this without UN approval, they were not disparaged like the US when we went into Iraq. Make your own judgment, but the French have some answering to do.

I'd like to add another important thing. Even though the French are wrong in their premise here, that does not excuse the behavior of the pro-government forces whom have acted abhorently. This is by no means an easy situation, but the French in trying to exert control need to step back and stop trying to pander to their Muslim population.

Fallujah

Fallujah is the key to routing the terrorists in Iraq. This is a place where they have taken refuge, and if elections are to go forth successfully in January, the Iraqi military and ours must strike with incredible force. The insurgents aren't going to go without a fight, but it is extremely important that they be put down in a timely and forceful manner. Hopefully we can find and kill Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, but nothing in that regard is certain. What is certain is that if Iraq is going to have a fighting chance at being a successful democracy, this must be done, no question about it.

HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!

It's official George W. Bush has won re-election! Despite initially contesting Ohio the Kerry campaign did the math and realized the obvious that even with counting the other ballots they couldn't win. I think that was the right and honorable thing to do. Instead of putting our country through a protracted legal matter with counting this and that he officially conceded at 10:00 Pacific, 1:00 Eastern time. He made some very profound statements about unity in his concession speech though. So I will give him that.

The reason Bush won are many, but one I will discuss briefly is his win in Ohio. This did not totally surprise me, because early on we found out that Ohio passed a ban on same sex marriage. This goes along with traditional conservative thought and along with Ohio being a traditionally Republican state, it was a no-brainer. George W. Bush walked away with an overwhelming amount of the popular vote as well. This just goes to show that America, as a whole, is a lot more conservative than some may have thought.

This is a brand new day with new opportunities and we should look to the here and now and not to 2008 to see how the Democrats can take back the White House and with whom. We just finished a very nasty campaign season and shouldn't anticipate the next one, but rather think about how we can succeed in and flourish in the next four years under the strong and firm leadership of the President.

Election Day

Today of course is Election Day and it looks (at the time) that George W. Bush will be re-elected. The election now hinges on Ohio and its 20 electoral votes. If Bush gets them, he only has to pick up one more state to win. If Kerry were to get it he would have to then pick up many more states to come close to winning. We can only hope it goes the right way.

UPDATE: Sorry, I spoke too soon. Preident Bush won Ohio and Alaska putting him at 269. Since he needs 270 to win, he needs only one more state to win re-election.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is Election Day and the race is tight. It could go either way honestly. Both campaigns have vigorously registered new voters by the millions, so it's really a numbers game. The DNC has registered millions of young people, enticing them to vote using scare tactics. On the other hand the Republicans have registered 4 million Evangelical Christians. It all depends on who goes out or has already voted. I'll pray tonight for God to give us another four years of George W. Bush and can only hope something does not go incredibly wrong, along the lines of voter fraud.
