Debates

Well, the first debate is over and now we have to sit back and see how the pundits analyze it. In my opinion, it came near a draw. President Bush came out with a lot of substance, making great points at every turn. On the other hand Kerry came out fairly well too. I'm not voting for him, but he didn't seem to falter like I expected him, showing his fondness for inconsistency. He did better than expected overall, but he shot himself in the foot at the end by stating, yes, Saddam was a threat. This doesn't help his case that the Iraq War was the wrong war. I really don't think the debates will change many minds. At this point most people have decided who they're voting for and watching the debates will only reinforce what they already think about their candidate. The polls may change slightly, but I wouldn't expect a sizable change for either candidate. I do think though, that Bush will continue to lead, even if it's by a small percentage, and eventually win on November 2nd.

Something interesting I read

The other day I was reading a political thriller Transfer of Power, and I read something quite interesting. The book is about a group of terrorists who stage a raid on the White House and take about a hundred hostages. The terrorist leader is also ironically being supported by Saddam Hussein. At one point in the book he looks upon Saddam's "better qualities" of lying, cheating, and goading the West.

Although it is a story of pure fiction in this small segment of the book it explores how Saddam made it a habit to push the West's buttons. How he'd go through the UN and lie to inspectors, make them leave, push to the very brink of war and then come back. You know the whole ordeal. He managed to do this during the eight years of Bill Clinton with little if no consequences. He probably thought he could do this indefinitely and then pass the mantle on to one of his sons to continue on into the future. This section of the book also mentioned how Saddam knew he could get away with this, because the American people at large and liberal politicians don't have the stomach for war. I bet Saddam didn't think we'd go to war with him this time around. He probably thought we'd back down and leave him to continue to support terrorists and produce WMDs.. He was wrong. He didn't count on President George W. Bush, who had the moral clarity to face down atrocious dictators like Saddam Hussein. He made Saddam accountable for his actions. Now thanks to our forces he and about sixteen of his cohorts are now in prison and awaiting trial.

UN Madness

The UN was originally created to aid in a post-war world, yet today, in this day and age, it has become an entity that admonishes America, instead of supporting it. Things have changed dramatically in recent years though. In recent years, starting in the mid-90s, the UN has failed in its mission. They failed in Rwanda just like they're failing in the Sudan. They're allowing genocide to occur almost unencumbered. Members such as France, Germany, Russia, and China refuse to support America when we desperately needed it. On top of this some of these same nations have supported our enemies. Weapons supplied by France were found in Iraq; China, it has been proven, has supplied and supported AL-QAEDA; these are but two examples. I could name more. Perhaps the most disturbing incident at the UN is the recent proclamations by Kofi Annan that the Iraq War is illegal. This disturbs me immensely that UN Secretary General would say such things.

Liberal 527s

Today I read a disturbing story. It was a story about a MoveOn commercial that portrayed an American soldier surrendering in Iraq. That is disgusting in my opinion. These groups don't care about our country. If they did they wouldn't try to demoralize our troops. In their hunt to boost their candidate, or more so tear down President Bush, they have utterly disregarded our armed forces. They will do anything to hurt this administration and don't care about the consequences. This is dangerous, putting your personal ideology ahead of your country, but that is face of the bitter partisanship. And who are behind these ads? Well for one, George Soros, who's hatred for Bush is beyond reason and the Hollywood Left. This is no surprise of course. People like the traitorous Jane Fonda and Margaret Cho to name but a few. It doesn't look like this trend is going to end any time soon though, so we just have to buckle under and stay true to our core beliefs, because the far-left will continue through the election and into the next four years.

Kerry's nosedive

Kerry's campaign, as I mentioned yesterday, is going downhill and fast. This can't be denied, although you might ask did it ever get off the ground? Kerry flip-flops no matter what the DNC says. His supporters are torn, and it's not even down the middle. He can't make a comment without alienating some faction, either the far left crazies (who not all like him) or the moderate hawks. Will he say he wants to leave Iraq to get votes, to increase his rankings in the polls? I sure hope not. He can't find solid ground to base his campaign, and it's fortunate for America, ruining him. He says he wants a more sensitive War on Terror; I'm sure al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, etc will appreciate our sensitivity. John Kerry says he is capable of leading America because he's a Vietnam veteran, but (this is no disrespect to vets) many people have been vets. Many people who have gone on to do many various jobs. He shouldn't have run just on that. He seems to brag about his service whenever he gets a chance, although he doesn't brag about his 20+ years as a senator or his testimony from 1971, which is honestly disgraceful.
At first, the Swift Boat Vets coverage got old for me, but I'm glad they came out with their information, because these war heroes have shed light on Kerry's lack of judgment and lies, case in point, the Christmas in Cambodia story. All we can hope for is that the American people choose the right person in November.

Memogate

Hello and welcome to my blog! Well, let's get to business right away.

The fact of the matter is whether Dan Rather knew the documents were fake or not, he screwed up. If he didn't know, he should've made sure of their authenticity. If they were of course authentic at all, which I happen to think they were not. CBS has lost a lot of credibility with this fiasco. I don't think it'll help the Kerry campaign though one bit; in fact it hurts him. The Kerry campaign is seeming to take a nosedive and this just seems to accelerate it.
