Thoughts on the War

Sorry, to not have written for so long. The past year I have been very busy considering I graduated from college. At least now I'm out of that bed of liberal demagogary where I was.

Moving on, I thought I'd share some of my thoughts on the war now.

* First, I still do support our effort in Iraq wholeheartedly. I am disappointed in the Iraqis inability to come together. It seems they have fallen into horrible sectarian violence from which it is hard to get out. I do hope though that some moderate factions on both sides will come together to end it.

* Secondly, the negative reporting by the Elite Media is deplorable. All you here is how can we manage or lessen defeat, the constant cries to leave now, and other such rhetoric. They say we've been in Iraq longer than we were in World War II. It should be known you can't compare wars. Each war has different variables to consider. Plus, the enemy we're fighting now is quite different from the ones in WWII. One major reason is they're using inconventional tactics, targeting civilians, etc. When you're dealing with that it makes fighting a war more difficult. Also, in WWII there wasn't the need to fight a politically correct war. Our hands are tied as long as that goes on. When you are not allowed to do certain things to win a war it greatly affects the outcome.

The ACLU is Endangering our Troops

Recently the ACLU has been behind a move to publish more photos of Abu Gharib, despite Gen. Myers' assertions that releasing these photos will only put our troops in danger by inflaming the Muslim population. This will put our troops lives in more danger than they already are in and be a rallying cry for al-Qaeada recruitment. Can we not take Gen. Myers at his word? Do we have to be reminded of what happened with the Newsweek debacle? I think our troops safety is of paramount importance, not embarassing the administration. Hopefully the recent court decision to release these will be overturned.

Let Us not Forget

On this, the fourth anniversary of the attacks on 9/11, let us not forget why we are fighting the forces of despotism and terrorism that so threaten are way of life. Also, let us not forget the service and sacrifice of our brave servicemen and women, whether living or deceased.

The State of the Democratic Party

Why are Democrats so liberal now? What happened to Democrats of old like Scoop Jackson, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, W.A. Harriman, Truman, FDR, an the list goes on. Now you have the likes of Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid more and more. The only ones i can think of who are not this way are Joe Lieberman, Bill Richardson, and a few others.

This is so disturbing, due to to the fact that the Democratic nomination in the next election cycle will probably go to Sen. Hillary Cliniton, a wolf in sheep's clothing if there ever was one. Through recent actions she has portrayed herself as a moderate if not a hawk in order to get her nomination, but what will most likely hapen is as soon as she gets the nomination she'll revert to her far-left ways.

DNC, why not give the nominantion to someone like Gov. Bill Richardson, whose service is just as noteworthy and something tto be proud of if not more so.

Al-Qaeada #3 Caught

Yesterday al-Qaeada #3 man Abu Farj al-Libbi was captured in Pakistan. He was the one behind the assassination attempts on President Pervez Musharaf. This is a big coup in the War on Terror. He is said to be close to Osama bin Laden and could help in obtaining his location.

I am extemely happy about this. This just goes to show that perseverance and determination will win this most unconventional war.

A Changing World

The world is changing, without a doubt. Just look at Palestine and Iraq.

Palestine has recently elected Mahmoud Abbas to be their President after years of having a this and a terrorist in Yasser Arafat. The fact they're even having an election is amazing. With a new leader the possibilities of the peace process to be started again and a settlement being agreed is incredibly great.

In Iraq they're four days away from an election. Hopefully it will succeed in allowing the Iraqi people to freely elect a President, hopefully the terrorists won't scare the people from voting, and hopefully this will set a precedent for the Iraqi people. With freedom will come a willingness to live in a peaceful world and not be susceptible to the terrorist propaganda.

I, like President Bush, believes that if people are free to elect their leaders and thus live in a democratic society, they are less likely to fall into step with terrorist ideology and its hateful teachings.

McGovern's Stupidity

George McGovern is spouting his left-wing politics again. In a recent adition of the LA Times he has said that the US should surrender in Iraq! That, is not only incredibly stupid but also dangerous. There is no way we can surrender in this fight. The reprecussions would be absolutlely devasting. If we were to do so it would show to the terrorists that we are weak and cannot commit to fighting terrorism. That would invite numerous dangers in the forms of more attacks on our interests abroad and at home. I expect more out of MrMcGovern. He should know the intracacies of such national security matters, after all he did run for President. To read about these comments and the Democrats leftward leaning politics. you can go here. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2004/12/27/154529.shtml

And here is the text of the letter:

To the Editor,

I'm for keeping Donald H. Rumsfeld as secretary of defense because he is against increasing the number of American soldiers in Iraq. Sending more soldiers only means more targets for those Iraqis who don't want our army occupying their country.

I did not want any Americans to risk their lives in Iraq. We should bring home those who are there. So better Mr. Rumsfeld than some eager beaver who wants to double our army in the desert as we repeatedly did in the jungle to no avail in the 1960's and 70's. We toppled Saddam Hussein; as George Aiken, that wonderful old Republican senator, said of an earlier time of troubles, Declare victory and come home.

Once we left Vietnam and quit bombing its people, they became friends and trading partners. Iraq has been nestled along the Tigris and Euphrates for 6,000 years. It will be there 6,000 more whether we stay or leave, as earlier conquerors learned.

I tried to persuade Santa Claus to bring our troops home for Christmas, but he said, "No, Rumsfeld sees light at the end of the tunnel if we hang in there and don't listen to old veterans like McGovern."

Is there really a Santa Claus, Virginia? If so, why were 14 soldiers killed at lunch after a hard night searching for that light at the end of the tunnel?
